After perusing the numerous articles on Halloween costumes, I managed to bag five great entries that would work for college students. The articles don’t necessarily say that such-and-such costume is designed for that age group, but I felt that each of them could apply. So, in no particular order:

Halloween Costumes for College Students by AC Producer Zac Wassink

This article was not only well written and funny, but presented some great ideas that I might never have thought of for Halloween costumes. Some of them included: your favorite band or music group (e.g. the Gallagher Brothers from Oasis, and the Beastie Boys in the video “Sabotage”); Will Ferrell’s characters (e.g. Ron Burgundy, Ricky Bobby); and Mario and Luigi. Definitely a fun read…I may even try one of these costumes.

Cute and Unique Halloween Costume Ideas for Couples by AC Producer Rachel Carpenter (joyful327)

Ms. Carpenter came up with some very unusual (and likely hilarious) ideas for couples’ costumes. These would definitely be appropriate for either college students or older adults. Examples? “College Grad and Debt,” in which one person dresses as the college graduate, in cap and gown, and the other in an all-black costume with money attached to it. My other well-liked is “Peace and Quiet”; one person dresses as a hippie, to represent “peace,” while the other might dress as a librarian, a mime, or a pacifier to symbolize “quiet.” Again, it made me smile…and they sounded like very easy costumes to make and wear.

Top 10 Plus Size Halloween Costumes by AC Producer Sarah Testa

Ms. Testa’s excellent ideas are especially fun for college students on the plus-size side (though they can apply to most adults). Some of her suggestions include “Vegas Bee,” a sexy getup from Hips and Curves; “After Hours Nurse,” which includes a zip-front dress; and “Cop,” a suggestion from Torrid, including a black dress, gloves, and a badge. Each costume is seductive, sensuous, and playful, and described in a fun way.

Hot Adult Halloween Costumes You Can Design Yourself by AC Producer nnifer Claerr

Claerr has quite a few sexy and fun ideas in this great article, particularly suited to college. Why’s that? Several of them include King Leonidas from 300, as well as his Spartan soldiers. She also includes classics like “Cheerleader,” and “Sharpay,” with apt suggestions as to where to find materials and how to put them together. To boot, it’s well written and fun to read.

Speed Racer Halloween Costumes for Men by AC Producer Pam Gaulin

Like the other nominees, although Gaulin doesn’t specifically target her article towards college students, this costume would work particularly well for frat boys and any college guy who has no shame.

“You have to be brave to wear white pants, and to wear white pants after Labor Day,” she quips. Her style is amusing and fun to read, and goes through each limited detail of the outfit, including shirt, pants, boots, gloves, and accessories. I’m betting a lot of guys would have the guts to put this costume together, and from Ms. Gaulin’s description, it doesn’t sound very costly either. Definitely worth a read, and perfect for last-minute Halloween plans.
